- Deadline for Competition Phase One submittals. Jury reviewed the design submissions and met and selected three finalist teams and named three teams as honorable mentions.
- April 2009
- Phase Two began.
- June 2009
- Deadline for Phase Two submittals. Jury reviewed the finalist entries, interviewed each design team, and selected David Woodhouse Architects as the winner. A press event announcing the winner and revealing the winning design was held at the AIA Chicago office on July 7, 2009. Members of the BMDC Committee and David Woodhouse Architects made presentations to media and civic groups about the competition.
- Fall 2009
- An exhibition on the Burnham Memorial Design Competition was held at the Field Museum. The exhibition showed the competition submission and explained the competition process.
- Fundraising efforts are underway.
